SCENES SCATTERED WITH PULPY DEBRIS;
LIBIDOS, MURDERS, AND SWOLLEN DISTENTION
Hard Palate is written at the level of the body and the sentence, entering into the very spongy tissue of proprioception; somatic fuss litters the scenery, which is equal parts bureaucratic mystery and mechanized lingual eroticism. A sleuthing inspection of the oppressive spaces between these people, their lovers and their aggressors in a world arbitrated by interfaces and cracked photo frames, and the devices of theater and cinema.
This book is a dip in a viscous and palpable universe, a fever dream jotted as a prosody, an existential sensory cut up. It is beguiling but sometimes wry, the key is to sweat it out and see what it spits up. The base, mundane, dripping animus of the figures in Roginsky’s prose revel in corporeal being. All subject to the thorough and long-winded pumping - thumbing and powdered in dust and bone. It is an exploration of the uncanny arousals that interrupt our landscape, and our landscape erecting bodies to copulate clumsily, curiously, and sometimes with violence.
